Sunset Thai Food

It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Sunset Thai Food will close for business on the 1st February 2026.

After nearly three decades of cooking authentic Thai food, we have come to the conclusion that now is the time to call it quits and close the doors.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers who have supported us over these many years. Especially we would like to thank our local customers who have not only supported our business, but also championed and promoted our food service so widely and so enthusiastically and kept us going throughout lean times and the calamitous lockdowns.

It is a very sad day for both of us, but we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Thai Food from Sunset Morar

For nearly three decades, Sunset has been providing authentic Thai cuisine in the heart of the beautiful Western Highlands. From the idyllic village of Morar, overlooking the famed silver sands, our food has found its way into the hearts of locals and tourists alike. Using a combination of local produce, specially imported ingredients and a lifetime of Thai knowledge, we have strived to provide a truly memorable experience to compliment the unforgettable landscape that surrounds us.

Authentic Thai Cuisine

Thai food has its roots in Chinese, Indian and Arabic kitchens, combining basic ingredients, fish sauce, chillies and lemon juice to provide an aromatic flavour sensation not found in other cuisines. Siamese ginger, sweet basil, coriander, lemon grass and a host of other herbs and spices compete for attention in the mouth-watering array of dishes on our menu.

Cooked to Order by a Thai Chef

I have been cooking Thai food for literally as long as I can remember. At my mother's side for her special noodle soup, on the market stall with my sister as she prepared her unique Roast Chicken Curry, (still talked about in Sukhumvit 101 to this day) or in the kitchen in Bangna where I spent so many hectic evenings!

Since those days I have been lucky enough to travel the world and have taken inspiration from the cuisines of Indochina, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia to mention just a few and over the years have endeavoured to combine the very best recipes with those that I know so well from home.

A Website for the Whole Area

Our website is not just an advert for our Thai food, it is an advert for the whole area. We have tried to provide links and information about the region, its scenery, its people, geology and a little history. If you have any comments, or links to interesting websites or publications, please let us know and we will add them to our ever growing site.
